copying ios from cisco 2950 to pc

Dear All

I have cisco 2950 catalyst switch i want to copy the switch ios to pc 

what is the procedure as i know in router we have to assing ip to an interface but in l2 switch we cant assign ip to an interface

please help .

Hi

Yes you can have an ip for the mgmt. vlan 1 and you can use that as your ip then for the tftp

you would just revert the copy statement to copy flash tftp:..........

interface vlan 1

ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x

no shut

connect to any port in vlan 1 give yourself ip in same range and then perform the copy tftp from the flash to your pc
