Creating port channel from a VSS catalyst 4500x pair to nexus vPC pair

We are currently installing a vPC pair of nexus 9K switches as TOR switches for a VDI environment. These switches will be vPC paired and connect to the core 4500-x VSS pair in another CER. How would I configure a port channel from the TOR nexus pair to a catalyst VSS pair? Would it be correct to say....configure port-channel on each nexus switch, adding the interfaces and a vpc XXX number to each switch. Then configure port-channel on catalyst as usual, adding all members into the channel and pruning as needed? Please advise.

Hi @klasko16

That is correct. Once vPC is up and running you can configure port-channel on both Nexus switches and associate them with vPC number. On VSS side simply bundle interfaces in port-channel.

Thanks,

Ashish

@ashishr is correct. I would add that you should do LACP (preferred) or PAgP to add the members to the channel instead of forcing etherchannel on.
