Hi guys.

I have two switches:

WS-C2960XR-48TS-I

WS-C2960XR-24PS-I

I tried to stack these switches. I connected port 1 of SW1 to port 2 of SW2 and port  2 of SW1

then i configured a priority and stack-mac persistent timer 4:

sw1

Switch/Stack Mac Address : 38ed.1848.4400
Mac persistency wait time: 4 mins
                                           H/W   Current
Switch#  Role   Mac Address     Priority Version  State
----------------------------------------------------------
*1       Master 38ed.1848.4400     1      4       Ready

         Stack Port Status             Neighbors
Switch#  Port 1     Port 2           Port 1   Port 2
--------------------------------------------------------
  1       Down       Down             None     None

sw2

Switch#show switch det
Switch/Stack Mac Address : f0b2.e5fd.3380
Mac persistency wait time: 4 mins
                                           H/W   Current
Switch#  Role   Mac Address     Priority Version  State
----------------------------------------------------------
*2       Master f0b2.e5fd.3380     2      4       Ready

         Stack Port Status             Neighbors
Switch#  Port 1     Port 2           Port 1   Port 2
--------------------------------------------------------
  2       Down       Down             None     None

Switch#

Software version is same for both switches:

Cisco IOS Software, C2960X Software (C2960X-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(2a)EX5, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)

Then i reloaded two switches at the some time but i see the state of both port is DOWN, could you help me?

rebooted one switch, see logs from the console in the attachment

Do you have a config on the switches?  Can you try erasing the config and rebooting?

No,  these are new switches. I configured only ssh access. Also i erased the config.

I have no idea what is going on.  The bootup from switch2 looks ok.  Can you also include the bootup from switch1 just to confirm.

I uploaded logs for second switch but i think this logs are ok. can it be hardware issue?

look at the show run.  Is there a switch provisioned?

switch 1 provision ws-c2960xr-24td-i
switch 2 provision ws-c2960xr-24pd-i

If yes, boot up each switch on its own and remove the provision with no switch # provision.  Then try connecting the stack ports.  One of the switches should reboot.

It was software issue.

I downgraded software to 15.0(2a)EX5. After a reloading of switches stack is working fine.

2960-24#show switch
Switch/Stack Mac Address : 38ed.1848.4400

                                           H/W   Current
Switch#  Role   Mac Address     Priority Version  State
----------------------------------------------------------
 1       Member f0b2.e5fd.3380     1      4       Ready
*2       Master 38ed.1848.4400     4      4       Ready
