Hi,

Does the below module from 6807 support single-mode SFP, and no which module supports it?

If yes, is there any limitation?

NAME: "Chassis 1 C6800-DFC Distributed Forwarding Card 4 EARL 1 sub-module of 7", DESCR: "Chassis 1 C6800-DFC Distributed Forwarding Card 4 Rev. 1.0"

Thanks

Hi,

In general, yes. So, for example, if you get a 9300 switch with 4 10Gig fiber ports, you can use 2 Multi-mode 10Gig SFPs and 2 Single-mode.

It all depends on your requirement and the optic you need (multi or single-mode).

This line card can support LR/SR optics.

However, the daughter card is just a "plain" DFC.  This means the line card in slot 1 and slot 3 will "downrate" themselves to "keep up" with the processing power of the plain DFC.

So this DFC is attached to a WS-X6904-40G in slot 1.

The original question is "support single-mode SFP".  Yes, it will support SM optics, CFP-40G-LR4 or use a FourX converter to convert the port down to a SFP+ port.

WS-X6904-40G  - yes this can have : make sure you have right module. as below mentioned document

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi,

Not clear what you are asking, but all line cards in slots 1, 6, and 7 support single-mode or Multi-mode. Also, the supervisor engine in slot 3 comes with 2 10Gig interfaces that could also be single-mode or multi-mode. It is important for you to know that slots 1, 6, and 7 are all 40Gig modules that can support 10Gig single-mode or multi-mode SFPs with breakout cables.

Hi @Reza Sharifi ,@Leo Laohoo

Yes, absolutely. You can use single-mode and multi-mode ports using the same line card. Example port 6/1 multi-mode, port 6/2 single-mode, and so on...
