Hi guys,
I want to ask you about DHCP server specially for APs and IP phones and SSID users, which is better is to make my core switch 6509 to be as DHCP server for them or the CUCM and WLC!
if it is Core sw why? and if it's WLC and CUCM why?
Thanks for all
Mohammad

Hi,
If you are setting DHCP for all those devices, then i would recommend you setup a dedicated dhcp server on a Linux or Windows server. A dedicated server offers advanced features like dns dynamic updates. You will not be able to do things like reservations and option classes on WLC and CUCM.
Thanks
John

HI !
As per john information he is right you should use windows based or linux based for DHCP Services and just small question to you . are you using Cisco phone, Avaya or Shoretel phones.
if you are using cisco ip Phones ok fine with DHCP , but Avaya ip phones will give lot of problem with DHCP and Shoretel phones also ok with dhcp ..
thanks

Hi chintalamuniraju,
yes I have cisco IP phones! and the only reason to use outside DHCP server linux or windows based is to give more option for my end devices! and it's not related to the efficiency of the network?!
Thanks :)
