Hi Guys,
I am trying to understand the DHCP Process and was ananylzing a packet capture. I have read that DHCP is Discover-Offer-Request-Ack process. I also read that DHCP offer & Ack are a Unicast and Discover and Request are Broadcasts.
However in the capture I see that the Offer and Ack is actually showing a Broadcast too and not Unicast. I am attaching the screenshots.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rahul

Hi,
The DHCP broadcast flag set in Discover and Request tells the server how it should be sending its replies if it accepts.
Different implementations have different default broadcast flag settings so it really depends upon the client implementation and if the server implementation accepts to honor this setting.
