enabling ip cef caused router to crash

I enabled ip cef on one of our 1760-VPN/K9-A routers using 12.3(1a) IOS. Just wondered if anyone is aware of any issues with this IOS and router which might have caused this.

In any case it would be better to change the IOS

Hello Darren,

CEF does load the Forwarding Information Base table, which gets larger as you have many routes and interfaces, into the memory. After enabling that option, you may have to wait for some time, so do not judge it as crashed if it doesnt respond for more than 3 or 4 minutes.
