Enabling STP

Hi,

Having recently fixed an issue with a new router not connecting due to STP being enabled, (it was disabled on the existing network).  I'm now looking to enabe it across the board.  Thing is, it's not something I'm too familar with and was just looking for any pointers.

My idea is to enable the RSTP globally on all switches (SRW2016/24/48 and SG-300s), but further from that, do I need to enable anything else i.e. enable the port fast/ flooding or flitering etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

The reason I ask is we have 2 vlans one for phone, one data.  We get issues after a couple of days we i can no longer connect to the phone managment console on the phone vlan.  I reboot the switch and all is ok for a while.  Having looked deeper at the switches, I found that the phone switches all use RSTP whereas the data ones don't.  My idea was to enable this all round to help eliminate the connectivity issues.

Thanks for the docs, will have a read.

Thanks for the rating.
