% ERROR: C4K_SUPERVISOR-2-SOFTERROR: memory inconsistency detected

I have a bug in a 4900m switch, the log shows the following error:

% C4K_SUPERVISOR-2-SOFTERROR: memory inconsistency detected

IOS version is:

bootflash: cat4500e-entservices-mz.150-2.SG.bin

This is the show version:

Hi Oscar,

Well, since this is a 4500, that means it has the ability to have redundant supervisors.  Do you have redundant supes in this chassis?  If so, you can simply pull the Active supe out and let the redundant one take over, then you can re-seat the supe and then pull the active supe out and re-seat it.  This should take you back to the original supervisor without taking the switch down.

If you do not have redundant supervisors, you will want to reboot your switch at your next maintenance window.

If there is a memory problem and a process on the switch tries to use the affected memory, then there could be issues.  If you don't have the redundant supervisors like I stated in my last post, I would reboot the switch at the soonest maintenance window.
