Error when trying to install IOS XE 17.0.03 on a C9300-48-UXM-E

I am trying to upgrade a C9300-48-UXM-E from IOS XE 16.12.03a to IOS XE 17.03.03.

I have followed all of the prerequisites and when I issue the following command:

request platform software package install switch all file flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.03.03.SPA.bin auto-copy

I get the following error:

--- Starting install local lock acquisition on switch 1 ---
Finished install local lock acquisition on switch 1

FAILED: Cannot determine list of packages for installation.
C9300_Stack_Member_3#

I have searched and I cannot find any referral to this error let alone determining it's cause.

Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Use the "force" option.

force option makes no difference.

Thx

  1. Please show us the exact syntax used.
  2. Post the complete output to the following commands:
dir
sh boot

Try installing for 1 switch at a time also can you try the new auto-copy command and see if it helps?

Hi Mohsiala,

I am only doing this on a non stack switch to test the upgrade before updating the stack and then adding this switch to the stack.

Thx

Bryan

Also, I am not sure what you mean by the new auto-copy command.   I am using the auto-copy parameter.

What is this error trying to tell me?

what is the exiting installation bundle or install mode?

just to clarify are you doing upgrade standalone or stack "why i have asked - because "  C9300_Stack_Member_3

if you upgrading stack you need to use

request platform software package install switch all file flash:newimage.bin new auto-copy
