$ES_LAN$$FW_INSIDE$ - variables? history?

Sometimes i see configs with this interface naming style - $ES_LAN$$FW_INSIDE$.

1) Is this format being written by a wizard?

2) Is there a legacy/current purpose to using the $?  Some kind of variable?

Just trying to understand the history here.

Is that just set under your interface description ?

it may be just the way the naming convention is set , im not aware of any variables like that unless it was set in eem script or you opened up the terminal shell in ios-xe where you can use certain hidden Linux syntax in ios cli
