ESS-3300-NCP Can I determine default firmware by serial number?

I have a number of ESS-3300-NCP switches bought from different sources and would like to know the firmware version that is loaded without installing them. Can this be determined by the serial number?

ESS-300 runs IOS-XE. So, you would have to logon to the router (using the CLI) to find the version of the software.

Thank you for the reply. I am trying to determine the version without using the CLI. They are uninstalled, sitting on a shelf and I can't use one with ROMMON ver 1.1.1 or less, so I am hoping that I can decode the serial number and determine which version was loaded at the factory. That will save me the time of installing each one, booting it, and then uninstalling the ones I can't use.
