Etherchannel Pre-requisites on links

I was learning Etherchannels where it said there are some prerequisite on the link that the interfaces should be same on speed, duplex, operational mode etc.

I put two interface on a switch into an etherchannel. Then I tried to change one interface to half duplex and 10 Mbps while other was 100Mbps and full duplex. The interfaces were still operational in the etherchannel as P ~ bundled in etherchannel.

Am I wrong in understanding that the speed and duplex of both interfaces should be same before they can be bundled in an etherchannel?

Thanks in advance.

yes, you need to have same capacity 10MB or 100MB, you can not mix speed.
