Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use a port that is configured as EtherChannel out side of the configuration. What I mean is the following.
Suppose I have 3 Ports configured on my CISCO switch, say ports (1, 2 and 3) Configured as an EtherChannel link to 3 ports on my Server, say ports (A, B, C). Now my question is this. If I was to reconfigure the EtherChannel on ONLY the server so that ports A &B where still part of the EtherChannel, would I then be able to use port C as a normal connection, without having to reconfigure the CISCO?
Thanks
Davel

No. Port C would still be in the etherchannel on Cisco. More than likely it would give an error and put the port down i.e. remove it logically from the etherchannel.
You will need to configure the Cisco switch to remove the port from the etherchannel if you wish to use it for some other purpose.
HTH,
Ian
