etherchannels

I put this question in a discussion a few days ago and it wasn't answered completey so, I'll try to ask again. Check out the diagram.

I was wondering if and etherchannel can be created by using one link that uses single mode fiber and one that uses multimode fiber? We currently have a 10G link between our core switches using single mode fiber. The link that I want to bundle it with has to be multimode because of the interfaces that we have left on both cores. I know you can create etherchannels with fiber and copper links together but, can you do it with single mode and multimode fiber links?

Thanks, Pat.

Hi. In theory I think you can as the conditions for etherchannel state that the ports have to be the same speed...which in this case they are - both 10g. However I haven't had the opportunity to try this myself.

Can you not try it? I suppose we are talking about a production network?

Thanks.

Some good info but, the doc didn't really make me feel that it was compatible for sure.
