Ethernet Loopback Plug

Hello All.  I can't seem to make a good loopback plug.  I've tried four so far and none worked on a Cisco 1941 router switch or Gig ports, Dell laptop, Cisco small business switch ports, or Brocade switch ports.  I've done pins 1 to 4 and 2 to 5, no luck.

I've done pins 1 to 3 and 2 to 6, no luck.

I've done pins 1 to 3, 2 to 6, 4 to 7, and 5 to 8, no luck.

Should I be inserting the wires from the clip facing up towards me?  I'm solid when it comes to making straight, crossover, or rollover cables, but I'm obviously missing something.  Any ideas or experiences?  Thanks.

I suspect you might need the "no keepalive" command on the switch port to make this work.
