Experincing issues with 2960X switch

75 Replies 75

We also raise a TAC case, the TAC engineer mention me there are another customer with similar symptom,  the issue still occurred at IOS 15.0(2)EX5  and 15.2(2)E.

Maybe it is a different bug?

I have to add that I tried upgradign to 15.5(2)E, and it has memory leaks or something nasty... Stay away from that one! I went back down to 15.0.2-EX5, and the SFPs actually work, they just don't "report" properly in the show inventory results.

Repeat: 15.2.2E is bad.

Understand...

i am feeling so confused... I checked whole discussion, only 12.0.2 EX1 never reported with this issue?

Same here! There seems to be be quite a bit of confusion about this issue, even Cisco doesn't seem to know what version works properly with SFP ports. I'm wondering if it depends on the exact switch model being used, if it is stacked or not, or possibly other factors unique to each installation.

I am using a 2960x stack with the following switches:

Master: WS-C2960X-48LPD-L (2 SFP+ ports)

Slave: WS-C2960X-48LPS-L (4 SFP ports)

These were originally running 15.0(2)EX4. The master switch had been up for a couple of weeks when I tried to connect a file server to the SFP+ port using a Cisco twinax copper cable and the SFP+ port on the switch was dead. Rebooting the stack fixed this, but obviously this isn't a permanent fix as I can't have my file server randomly disconnecting.

I updated the stack to version 15.2(2)E 12 days ago and haven't had any issues (yet). No memory leaks and the SFP+ port is staying up (so far).

It's not fixed. I have a group of switches on 15.2, and the parent switch (star topology) dropped the connections again-says not connected.

15.0.2 EX1 : ???

15.0.2 EX2 : not ok

15.0.2 EX3 :  not ok

15.0.2 EX4 : not ok

15.0.2 EX5 : not ok

15.2.2 E : not ok

Hm... I use 15.0(2)EX3. I get error but link are up and stable.

Dear Jackson.ku

We try IOS follow

15.0.2 EX1 :

15.0.2 EX2 :

15.0.2 EX3 :  not ok

15.0.2 EX4 : not ok

15.0.2 EX5 : not ok

15.2.2 E : not ok

We don't use EX1 and EX2

Any word on this? We are running 15.2(2)E and are having the same issues.

We're seeing the same thing. Initially a different stack was downgraded from EX4 to EX3, and that solved the issue. However, a newer stack is now exhibiting the same issue with EX3. Going to downgrade this to EX1.

Update 12/1/2014: Even at EX1 we were seeing the hulc errors and the links would go down. Went back to EX3, but again, still seeing this problem.

Same issue here, 2960 with 15.0(2)EX5 + copper SFP's.

Link goes down, console reports the "hulc_sfp_iic_intf" over and over.

Good to know fiber SFP's seem to not cause the issue. I may try switching over to fiber at one IDF and see how it goes

Looks like this is a bug if you are running 2960-x switches in combination with GLC-T SFP modules in the uplink interfaces.  The resolution is to load 15.0(2a)EX5 https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCur94280/?referring_site=bugquickviewredir

A workaround is to replace the GLC-T with fiber SFP modules.

Bug CSCur94280

Dallas

we using 4 stack swtich 2960X the problem we faced all our SFP link connected to CORE turned off and console showing the message error disable. couldn not use a command line as switch were too slow to take any command via CLI. unplug the SFP on the 2960X but no sucess. than finally did a hard reboot and the problem was fixed.

the ios we are running is   c2960x-universalk9-mz.150-2a.EX5.bin

might we need to move to a stable version of 2960X.

please do not forget to rate.

Dear Friend, I am experiencing the same issue in IE-4000 Industrial Standard Outdoor Switch.

Any suggestions for this below error pls.

"hulc_sfp_iic_intf_read_eeprom sfp _index 4 yeti_iic_read_retry fail"

Hi
Reboot the switch ,if still occurring upgrade it , if still an issue open a TAC case with it , not much else you can do with that alert
