Extended vlans on 6509 sup1a

My telco assigned me an etxented vlan for a metro ethernet deployment. I have no option but to use extended vlans. My routers and remote site hardware have been upgraded and can process extended vlans. My problem is with my sup1a in my central site. My software on the sup1a is 6.4(21). If anyone can offer any suggestions on configuring extended vlans on the sup1a it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To create extended-range VLANs, you must first enable MAC address reduction, which provides IDs for extended-range VLANs. After you enable MAC address reduction, you cannot disable it as long as any extended-range VLANs exist.

To enable MAC address reduction and create an Ethernet VLAN in the extended range, perform this task in privileged mode:

Step 1 - Enable MAC address reduction. - set spantree macreduction {enable | disable}

Step 2 - Create a VLAN. - set vlan [vlan]

Step 3 - Verify the VLAN configuration. - show vlan [vlan]

Console> (enable) set spantree macreduction enable

MAC address reduction enabled

Console> (enable) set vlan 2000

Vlan 2000 configuration successful

Console> (enable) show vlan 2000
