hi,
It seems there are two conflicting pieces of information about support for FCoE on the F2 module for the Nexus 7k.
This document says that the F2 module does support FCoE.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps9441/ps9402/data_sheet_c78-685394.html
The module protects investments with standards-based 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) features, and virtual machine-awareness features that allow IT departments to consolidate networks based on their own unique requirements and timing. Each port can also be used at 1 Gigabit Ethernet speed, allowing IT departments to migrate to 10 Gigabit Ethernet based on the specific needs of their networks.
This document says that FCoE is not supported on the F2 module.
Some software features are not available on the F2-Series module in Cisco NX-OS Release 6.0. These include ACL Capture, ERSPAN, FCoE, GRE tunnels, LISP, MACSEC, MPLS, Netflow, online diagnostics, OTV, PIM-BiDir, and certain counters. Many of these features will be supported in future software releases; however, the F2-Series hardware does not support LISP, MPLS, and OTV, GRE tunnels, and PIM-BiDir so these features will remain unavailable on the F2-Series module.
Do we know when the F2-Series module will support FCoE?
thanks!

Doron,
FCoE will be available in 6.1 train. And it will be released this spring already.

Hi
There is no conflict. Hardware of F2 modules supports FCoS. But some software features are not available on the F2-Series module in Cisco NX-OS Release 6.0. Many of these features will be supported in future software releases.
FCoE will be supported in net NX-OS train.
HTH.

Alex,
In order to use FCoE on the F2 module, do you need to buy a license or a certain feature license (Storage Enterprise Package - N7K-SAN1K9) ?
thanks

Hi Remco
Yes, for using FCoE on F2 following license has to be present: FCOE_N7K_F248X

Alex,
So if I use a F2 module with the FCOE-N7K-F248X and IP Base, that would work? Or do I also need a Feature license like Storage Enterprise Package (N7K-SAN1K9)?
thanks

Remco,
I think better would be to ask your Cisco account manager.
