Fiber connectivity

Dears,

I m proposing a WS-C3850-12XS-S switch for which I have below question

  1. on WS-C3850-12XS-S sfp+ slot if I insert 1GIG glc-sx-mmd will it work with other 1 GIG SFP glc-sx-mmd
  2. firewall will connect on this model WS-C3850-12XS-S with sfp-10G-SR on port 1 and from port 2 with

SFP-10G-ZR Itwill connect to Head quarter which is 60KM from the DR. this connection will work if I m not wrong becz don't need to have the complete path as single mode.

  3. If I insert 10GIG SFP+ sfp-10G-SR and reduce the speed by command to 1GIG will it work with other GLC-SX-MMD transceiver

    Thanks

Hello,

post a schematic drawing indicating what is connected to what. Also, what firewall, ASA, Palo Alto ?

You can check SFP compatibility here :
https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/home

1. on WS-C3850-12XS-S sfp+ slot if I insert 1GIG glc-sx-mmd will it work with other 1 GIG SFP glc-sx-mmd
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>YES will work
2. firewall will connect on this model WS-C3850-12XS-S with sfp-10G-SR on port 1 and from port 2 with SFP-10G-ZR Itwill connect to Head quarter which is 60KM from the DR. this connection will work if I m not wrong becz don't need to have the complete path as single mode.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The SFP's sfp-10G-SR and SFP-10G-ZR are compatible with WS-C3850-12XS-S. However exact connectivity can be confirmed if you can share a schematic network diagram as requested by Georg
3. If I insert 10GIG SFP+ sfp-10G-SR and reduce the speed by command to 1GIG will it work with other GLC-SX-MMD transceiver
>>>>>>>>>>NO, this will not work

  1. on WS-C3850-12XS-S sfp+ slot if I insert 1GIG glc-sx-mmd will it work with other 1 GIG SFP glc-sx-mmd  - YES

SFP-10G-ZR Itwill connect to Head quarter which is 60KM from the DR. this connection will work if I m not wrong becz don't need to have the complete path as single mode.-these support smf upto 80km,however they are not compatible with mmf 10g-SR if thats what your querying

  1. If I insert 10GIG SFP+ sfp-10G-SR and reduce the speed by command to 1GIG will it work with other GLC-SX-MMD transceiver - As far as i an aware they will not be compatible

Dears,

Attached is the topology,

I will rephrase my question,

from firewall to switch I will use Multi Mode transceivers and from switch another port I will use Single Mode transceivers to reach to HO, as per the diagram.

I'd rather go with a C9500-16X.
