Find out what total throughput is

Is there a way that I can check what my total throughput is on my switches? In our Datacenter we use 4 4948 switches in a ToR (top of Rack) setup. Those 4 switches connect back to a 4507 switch using etherchannel. How can I see what the total throughput is per switch or for all four switches. I need to figure this out so we know what throughput we need for a datacenter firewall. Thanks.

Use third party testing gears like IXIA or Spirent.

IXIA : http://www.ixiacom.com

Spirent : http://www.spirent.com

These devices can generate any type of network traffic, with varying frame sizes, bit-rates and can also analyze the received traffic pattern and create reports. They also offer devices on short term contract basis as well.
