Flash Keyword in 6500 boot system command

Hi

I'm trying to determine the point of the flash keyword in the boot system command on a Sup-720. From what I can see I dont need to specify it but I would be interested to know if there is a good reason to specify it?

For example I can spectify:

boot system sup-bootdisk:IMAGENAME.bin

and everything works fine. However in the command reference it seems to indicate that I should put the following in:

boot system flash sup-bootdisk:IMAGENAME.bin

If anyone can clarify this then it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Malcolm

Hi,

Usually, you specify the media in the statement, so you know which one you are booting from:

Here is an example:

boot system flash bootdisk:s2t54-advipservicesk9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY1.bin

Hi Reza

What I was actually after was whether I need to specify the keyword "flash" in the boot system command? I know the switch boots correctly when flash isnt included in the boot system command but was wondering if there were any reasons to include the flash keyword?

Thanks

Malc
