Hi,
we have purchaced a WS-C3650-48PS for a project. In this project we need a backup link to our upstream partner but a we are not allowed to use spanning-tree nor a etherchannel. We did a test with a WS-C2960S-24TS-L with Flexlink and works like a charme.
During the configuration of a Flexlink backuk interface I noticed the switchport backup interface was not regonaize anymore. In the datasheet (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-3650-series-switches/datasheet-c78-729449.html ) is Flexlink mentioned: Flexlink provides link redundancy with convergence time less than 100ms.
There are documents available how to configure Flexlink on the 3650: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3650/software/release/3se/layer2/configuration_guide/b_lay2_3se_3650_cg/b_lay2_3se_3650_cg_chapter_0110.html
But in the data sheets of the versions (> 3.6.0 nd > 16.x) there is mentioned: Flex Links are not supported. We recommend that you use spanning tree protocol (STP) as the alternative.
Does anyone have a clue which version I need to be able to use Flex Link?
Hope to hear something.
BR Harald

Hello Harald,
on the 3650, the Flex Link feature was introduced in version IOS XE 3.3SE, so that is what you need.
The document you linked to mentions this at the very bottom...
