My Catalayst 4507 is reaching up to 82% CPU utilization and I noticed that K2L2 Address Table R is causing the high CPU, kindly help me to resolve this issue.

Hi,

Please check the below link describes troublshooting steps for C4500 Highe CPU,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps663/products_tech_note09186a00804cef15.shtml

Regards,

Mohamed

In most cases this is an indication that you have mac moves or a lot of learning going on.  Check STP and enable "mac address-table notification mac-move" if you find that K2L2 Address Table R is running very hot in the "show platform health | ex 0.0" output.

(just putting this in so I can find it when I forget about this in a year.)

I had a VM server with 3 interfaces ( 6/15, 6/21, 6/23 ) in the Interface port-channel 60.

When a wrong configuration was put the interface 6/21 out of port-channel, the 4507 started to move mac and CPU went to 98% ( process K2L2 68% ).

When I put the interface 6/21 in the port-channel ( channel-group 60 mode on ) everything go back.

Now the CPU is 33%.
