High Total output Drops

Hi,

Our database server is connected on cisco swich 2960G

gigabitEthernet 0/38.while showing the interface command the total output drops is a large value..Is there any issue with this value.I think this is one of the reason for slow access of the server.

pls give me a sloution....

No other line errors.

I'm suspecting the remote end cannot process the amount of data the switch is pushing.

You can either try QoS or you could try to lower your link speed to see if the output drops decreases.

Thanks for the reply.For database operation how I enable QOS,what is the command  for the same.

Let's try something easy:  Try lowering the link speed to 100 Mbps and see if the output drops stop or decreases.

I suggest to clear the counters of the interface since

  Last clearing of "show interface" counters never

with the clear counter interface gigabitEthernet 0/38

Then check the CPU of the 2960 to check if the dropped packets are due to high cpu
