Hi there, can you answer this:
If I do 'show run' on a Cat 3750, which command line should I be looking into to determine whether switch has additional 'blades' correctly configured and available for redundancy in case of failure?
On the cat 4500 switches, I should be looking for HSRP(standby ip) entry in order to determine whether redundancy configuration is in place, right?

Hi,
regd. Cisco 3750, it is a single hardware box & additionally you can't add any blades on to it unlike 4500 or 6500 series chassis type switches. there are 2 ways for having redundancy for 3750.
1. Stacking
2. HSRP
Stacking
---------
Stacking 2 switches to gether(will act as 1 single switch with 32Gbps back plane), but restricted to use with maximum of 3Metres.
HSRP
-----
Configure HSRP between 2 3750's, advantage of configuring HSRP than Stacking is, geographical switch can reside else where in within the building, where for stacking, Max. of 3M is only possible.
hope your clear with this explanation.

lemme know anything else has to clarified.

Hi,
Cat3750 is a fixed config box and doesnot have any additional modules on it. For redundancy purpose you have to configure HSRP between two 3750's.
You are right about 4500 as far as the software configuration is configured. You can also have hardware redundancy on 4500 like CPU redundancy, Power supply redundancy and module redundancy.
HTH,Please rate if it does.
