Hi,

I got cisco 3850 2 switches and connected in the stack.

It's observed that the version of the switches stack-ports is different. Is there any issue and how to update it.

Switch Ports Model SW Version SW Image Mode
------ ----- ----- ---------- ---------- ----
* 1 56 WS-C3850-48P 16.3.8 CAT3K_CAA-UNIVERSALK9 INSTALL
2 56 WS-C3850-48P 16.3.8 CAT3K_CAA-UNIVERSALK9 INSTALL

Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
------------------------------------------------------------
*1 Active 682c.7b6d.e280 15 V07 Ready
2 Standby 6cfa.894f.8b80 1 V03 Ready

Hi there,

They are hardware version numbers. In all my years I've never seen an upgrade caveat mentioning incompatibility between different hardware versions.

You should be fine to upgrade.

cheers,

Seb.

Yup, I would not worry about them,. Like Seb said those hardware version numbers do not match and you got 2 switches in stack.
if there is a software mismatch; then u got V-mismatch message and problem of no stack. solution to V-mismatch is software auto upgrade enable command on master to push software version down to partners.

Not that you need much worry on that,  you an upgrade the stack (make sure you read the realease notes the one you looking for upgrade.

here is the steps i follow ;

1. take the configuraion backup out of the box.

2. read the realease notes  and compatability and features you running.

3. upgrade in maintenance window/(since switch required reboot,)
