We are seeing a lot of latency on our network, but if I look at the individual ports none of them are near to being maxed out. I was told that I need to do an smnp walk to find out the MIB's on the back plane. Can someone tell me how I would go about doing this so I can add this device to Cacti and I can see if the 4006 is our bottleneck.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,
First of all you need to enable the snmp traps like below in the switch.
Switch(config)# snmp-server enable traps
Switch(config)# snmp-server host myhost.cisco.com public
And now permit the SNMP traps to the server say in your case the Cacti.
Switch(config)#set ip permit enable snmp
Switch(config)#set ip permit 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 snmp
Switch(config)#set ip permit 192.168.2.1 snmp
Hope this helps you.

ok, I got the first command in okay
Cat4006> (enable) set snmp trap enable
All SNMP traps enabled.
But I cannot seem to find a way to set this
Switch(config)# snmp-server host myhost.cisco.com public

Hi,
Just apply the below command and see whether you go....
Switch(config)# snmp-server host host_ip public
Hope this helps you.

This must be an old version of the IOS because I cannot perform a config t, I have to use set commands, a lot of these commands are not there under set
Cat4006> (enable) set snmp ?
access Set SNMP access group
community Set SNMP community table
group Set SNMP group
notify Set SNMP notify
rmon Set SNMP RMON
rmonmemory Set SNMP memory usage limit for new RMON entries
targetaddr Set SNMP targetaddr
targetparams Set SNMP targetparams
trap Set SNMP trap information
user Set SNMP user
view Set SNMP view

Hi Dan,
You could simply perform a traceroute towards the destination host you're experiencing latency issues. Also the show proc cpu and show mem stat hist could tell you if this device is the culprit.

Our network is pretty slow today, that si why I have the oportunity to look into this I can do the show proc cpu(see below) but show mem stat hist is not a valid command
Cat4006> (enable) sh proc cpu
CPU utilization for five seconds: 17.70%
one minute: 17.08%
five minutes: 17.02%
