HSRP between 2960 & 3560

Hello All,

I am in a situation where I have one 2960 and one 3560 switch with me. I am trying to figure out if I can run HSRP between these two switches.

Is there any issue while running HSRP between different platform/series devices.

Thanks in advance.

There should be no issue if both support HSRP. However, I don't believe the 2960 can do "ip routing" and HSRP except for particular model. I checked it out on at the feature navigator and it says its available on the following images:

c2960c405ex-universalk9-mz.122-55.EX1.bin

c2960c405ex-universalk9-mz.122-55.EX2.bin

c2960c405ex-universalk9-mz.122-55.EX3.bin

c2960c405-universalk9-mz.122-55.EX1.bin

c2960c405-universalk9-mz.122-55.EX2.bin

c2960c405-universalk9-mz.122-55.EX3.bin

As for the 3560s I use HSRP on them regularly, I believe you need the ipbase image or better.

Good afternoon,

2960 is a layer 2 switch only, you would need 2 layer 3 switches to run HRSP.  I've run it with a 3750 and a 3560, but those are both layer 3.
Hope that helps.
