Hsrp vip not reachable

Hi All 

My switch configuration are below

sw1:

interface Vlan12
 ip address 10.0.12.2 255.255.255.0
 standby 12 ip 10.0.12.1
 standby 12 priority 200
 standby 12 preempt
end

sw2:

interface Vlan12
 ip address 10.0.12.3 255.255.255.0
 standby 12 ip 10.0.12.1
 standby 12 priority 200
 standby 12 preempt
end

The problem i cannot reach virtual ip or  10.0.12.2 . But i can ping  10.0.12.3 

How  can i troubleshoot this ? . What all i have to consider

if you show interface vlan 12, where 10.0.12.2 resides, does it show up?

Can you ping 10.0.12.2 from the local switch, where that Ip resides?

Can you do a sh standby on both switches and post it? Also...........Why are both your priorities the same?
