HWIC-2FE error in 3845 ?

Hi,all

I have two cisco 3845 routers, every router contains one HWIC-2FE card and 2GE port .

But recently ,I found that something is wrong with my  HWIC-2FE card in one router.

These two FE ports does not forward data, if i reload this router ,every thing is ok ,but after

about one month, these two ports does not work again. But the other router is always normal.

I get "show interfaces",as  follows:

ps:

Interface F0/0/0  connect to ISP,ISP provide 6M  full duplex,

Interface F0/0/1  connect to the interface f0/0/1 of the other 3845 router,

I'm glad to see your suggestion ,thank you very much.

Hi,

Interface fa0/0/0 is in half duplex and fa0/0/1 is in full duplex.

Do you have the right cable for both interfaces (Cat-5)? Also, the distance can only be up to 100 Meters (328 feet).

HTH

Reza

Hi,Reza

Firstly,thank you for your reply.

interface fa0/0/0 is really in half duplex, but when the router run normally, this interface is  in full duplex,

the distance of both cables are less than ten Meters ,and the cable for interface fa0/0/1 is provided with the product,

I'll check the the other cable soon.

In addition,if the cable pluged in the interface fa0/0/0 is bad, would it cause the other interface (interface fa0/0/1) error ?

thank you

kefeng li

Hi Kefeng,

It should not.  The interfaces are independent from each other unless something is wrong with the HWIC module itself.

Also, what version of IOS are you running?

HTH

Reza

Hi,Reza

The IOS version is c3845-ipbase-mz.124-15.T10.bin,

Hello,

Do you know if your ISP is using hard coded speed/duplex values? If yes, can you ask them to set it to auto? If they cannot, then you might have to put an off-the-shelf switch in between the router and the ISP to make them compatible. The issue seems to be due to the compatibility between the ISP router and your router interfaces.

Hello,Nagaraja Thanthry

This router was not always being in half-duplex mode ,only happened after the crash. But I'll check it and try your suggestion tormorrow,

Thank you,

Kefeng Li

Dear all,

The error is the motherboard in 3845,after changing it ,it returns to normal.

thank you for your suggestion.
