Dear All,
I have three queries regarding Cisco catalyst 3020 Switch.
The scenario is give below:
We have hp server blades chassis, having 15 server blades, which are connected to the Cisco catalyst 3020 Switch (our cisco 3020 switch has 16 internal ethernet ports, whcih are acting as downlink). This Cisco 3020 catalyst Switch has 8 external ports acting as uplink ports. We have connected the first port out of 8 external ports to another 2960 Switch. This Cisco 3020 Switch also has 4 fiber ports for the fiber connectivity out of which one port is connected for the SAN.
Now I have the following queries:
1) I want to connect another (the second) uplink port out of 8 external ports to the Cisco 2960 Switch in order to get the redundancy and more bandwidth.
I want to do EtherChannel configuration without PAgP. so please privide me, What are the steps and configurations for the EtherChannel ?
2) How the Cisco Catalyst 3020 Switch is internally connected to the server blades inside the chassis ? Is the Switch 3020 connected to the server blades Lan card via ethernet cables or any other way ? If any one has information regarding this, please help in that case.
3) Can we use the external ethernet LAN ports of the Switch 3020 along with the Fiber ports ? I mean to say, can we get both the traffics (LAN & SAN) at the same time ?
For the convenience, please find the attachment for the view of cisco 3020 switch.
Waiting for the quick response from all of you.
Bundle of Thanks.

Hi Naveen,
1) I want to connect another (the second) uplink port out of 8 external ports to the Cisco 2960 Switch in order to get the redundancy and more bandwidth.
I want to do EtherChannel configuration without PAgP. so please privide me, What are the steps and configurations for the EtherChannel ?
You can use either PAGP or LACP to configure your EtherChannel
Here is the config guide with examples:
2) How the Cisco Catalyst 3020 Switch is internally connected to the server blades inside the chassis ?
It is an internal NIC on each blade server
I mean to say, can we get both the traffics (LAN & SAN) at the same time ?
Yes

Thanks a lot for your answer and support.
About question 1, I have checked the link you sent to me, it is excellent stuff. I got the understanding about the ether channel. Bundle of thanks.
About question 2, can you or anyone please let me understand that how the NICs of the blade servers are connected to the internal ports of the Cisco Switch 3020 ? If I am not wrong, I think NICs are connected to the internal ports of the Swich 3020 by the ethernet cables.
If someone please clarify this point.
About question 3, I got your point. Thanks a lot for this.
Regards,
NAVEED

Dear All,
If any one have any idea regarding the question 2 ? OR any one want to share the information regarding this post.
Bundle of Thanks.

For the dual gig/e nic onboard the blade: assume the blade server is in slot 1: nic port 1 maps to port one of the 16 internal downlinks; for nic port 2, add 8 so therefore it maps to port 9 of the 16 internal downlinks. If the blade server was in slot 2, then it would be 2 and 10, slot 3, ports 3 and 11 and so forth. I know this applies to the newer/smaller c3000 but because the c7000 is larger, it may be that the second nic port actually goes to port 1 on the next interconnect bay switch port 1 downlink.
