I'm newbie but I have issue routing between main VLAN and other internal VLAN CIsco 350 web management

Hello,

 

I have 2 (or more VLAN) one if the main one that route the traffic directly to my router

VLAN1

192.168.5.2 swith IP

192.168.5.1 Router / Gateway

 

VLAN2
192.168.20.1 swithch IP for this VLAN

192.168.20.   DHCP from 100 to 199

 

now I tried to create a static IP from 192.168.20.1 to next op to 192.168.5.1 but it is not right maybe I should reroute to 192.168.5.2 ???  Thanks in advance Roberto

Hi,

The static IP you are pointing to on the router needs to be in the same subnet.

something like this is the switch is layer-2

ip default-gateway 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0  192.168.5.1

or 

ip default route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0  192.168.5.1

 

or

 

ip default-gateway 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0  192.168.20.x (x is the ip on the router)

ip default route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0  192.168.20.x (x is the ip on the router)

There is no way to route to internet from VLAN2 (IP's 192.168.20.x) I this is the screenshot I really don't understand why it will not route from there but ir route perfectly from VLAN1 default one...

the default route should be sufficient. Does the router (with IP 192.168.5.1) have a route back to 192.168.20.0/24 ? What brand/model is the router/modem ?

Good point ... this is the ISP modem and don't provide configuration so I have to add routing for 192.168.20.x to 92.168.5.2 right ?

 

Exactly. The modem needs to know how to get to that other Vlan.

okay got your point but why I cannot even ping 192.168.5.2 that is the IP of VLAN1 from VLAN2 and the routing flag are enabled this is quite strange

kay is clear what you have told but first of all seem that the router from VLAN2 don't ping to VLAN1 gateway even if I set the defaul gateway so looks like interVLAN is not working .... d o I have to use some kind of ACL or VLAN mapping to masquerade the ip coming from other vlans's to go to internet ?

Hello,

 

I tried and tried but seem that InterVLAN is not working and I cannot ping my router with the VLAN different from the default one do you have an idea ? should I set  a VLAN onetoone to mask the other VLAN?
