Internet Line goes down at a particular time of the day

Our internet goes down in between 9-10 am everyday. We are connected over MPLS from Data Center from another Country and in betwen these lines is a multiplexer which allows a local provider in Singapore to to take care of the last mile to the main office. Cisco Router is setup in Data Center identifies its peer in Singapore via Vlan. We have had both providers checked from their end and havent identified any issues so far. They even checked logs, had technicians go on location. Is there any other place we should be looking down the layer in other to isolate the issue.

Hi

did you try run a traceroute between 9-10 to see which providor maybe responsible , dont take anything the providors say as truth from my experience anyway you usually only get the half truths off them , the traceroutre may identify where the break is occurring , if you cant trace over the mpls ask them to allow it as somtimes its blocked in ISPs , tell them you need it for troubleshooting and they can switch it back off after the issue is found

The issue maybe on  the handfoff between both providors and there just checking there local kit at site too

Thanks Mark,

Will try your recommendations.

Personally i would also request the logs off both providors there saying they have checked so you can verify yourself and uptimes from each of the devices involved , there should be no reason they cant provide them between those times at least

good luck

Which side or country does the link go down?

Get both sides to conduct a Bit Error Rate (BER) test and demand to see the result.

Hello Leo,

The Link goes down everyday between 9-10 am on the Singapore side of things. Could there be a reason why it goes down in the particular time window? I am just wondering.

9-10 am? Hmmmm ... When this happens is there a device/appliance that reboots when this happens? Like a short in the power supply that when someone turns a light on it causes power to this device to drop momentarily?

Thanks for the reply Leo. We havent notice a device reboot or a power surge but what we have noticed is always when the employee working from the premises exceeds a setting number, in this case 10 computers switched on. The probably of this happening has been recorded to be higher.  We had an instance when 2 people worked from the office and this never happened. Wierd since this is usually triggered (9-10) start of business everything. There must be something which might be booting up due to the load or something taking a longer time to process. I am not to sure but just strange. Do you have any clue?

This sounds like the circuit breaker is tripping because of too much power demand.  I think a power load test is needed.  Maybe the entire site is running on a single feed or a single circuit breaker.  This is definitely a a sign it's not a network issue but a power transmission one.

Hello Leo,

What if i was running via a UPS ?

UPS won't make a difference. The magic number is the amount of people who works on that space. Once they hit a certain number the power to that floor/building drops to a certain point that forces an unknown equipment to reboot.
In the past, we used to have an equipment that behaved like this (only it was around 7pm). We later found out that the cleaner would come in that night and when he turns on the vacuum cleaner the power to the entire cabinet drops because he was straining the circuit breaker.

Will check with an internal office at the location and get back to you. Thanks anyway.
