IOS issue?

So my problem is that i have two layer 3 switches that are connected by another two layer 2 switches. so it goes:

L3A switch connects to L2A switch

L2A switch connects to L2B switch

L2B switch connects to L3B switch

L3A can ping: L2A, L3B but not L2B

L3A can ping every switch.

I have rebuilt this lab with packet tracer, lab equipment and it all works fine.

Could it be a possible ios issue??

This is most likely a configuration issue and not IOS.

What is the question?

What is not working?

Reza,

That's what i initially thought as well, that it was a configuration issue. my question is what could be the possible problem. My L3A switch can ping everything except l2b switch which is the switch that provides the link to my L3B switch. i can get to my L3B switch and it goes through L2B but i can't reach the L2B. I have built a simulation many times and it always works and i am not sure why.

Thank you!

Can you provide relevant config from each device?

Also, can you check stp in each device to make sure no interface is being blocked?

Are you trying to reach each device using the management IP address?  If this is the case , does each device have a default route or default gateway?

HTH

I can't give out that information because it belongs to a client.

I know it does making troubleshooting harder when you don't know the running-config

STP is right, everything is functioning and no ports that i need to use are being blocked.

yeah, I am reaching it via management IP. Yeah each Layer 2 device does have a gateway.

L3A can ping: L2A, L3B but not L2B -

--> if this is the case what is the IP address and vlan assigned to all 4 Switches (L2/L3)

--> Which Switch is enabled with layer 3 routing

L3A can ping every switch

By this I understand that there is connection between and L3 A & L3 B  is my understanding correct ?

what is the default gateway of both layer 2 switches and  where is the is layer 3 interface created for gateways

Yes, I figured out my issue though. Turns out the IP routing command was applied but the layer 3 switch must of rebooted and the configuration was not saved therefore the IP routing command wasn't being applied.

Thank you all!

Good that issue resolved:)
