IOS software upgrade Validation

Hello guys, I would appreciate if anyone help me provide steps for verifying a successful IOS software upgrade.

Once the software is upgraded with newest version, what can be done to validate that the upgrade is successful. (I usually do the "show version"  command and verify if the new image appears off the output.. I would like to check for any negative effects post the IOS upgrade. Thanks in advance. :-)

This tool can diff your config before and after incase if any changes occurred,  may help , port down you would need to take a before and after of the interface outputs though

Hi,

There is also a free tool called "winMerge" You can use it to compare configs before and after the upgrade to make sure you are not missing any part of the config.

Hi,

Show version is the correct command to verify the new IOS has been installed. Before installing any new version, I recommend reading all the release notes for that version, so there are no surprises after the upgrade.

Thanks for your response Reza

Is there any other way to check for negative effects of upgrade (Like change in config's or port down issues)... ?
