IOS Upgrade gone bad

Hello,

I have a 2611xm that I am trying to upgrade:

I did the IOS transfer from the TFTP server:

Erasing device... eeeeeeee ...erasedee
Erase of flash: complete
Loading tftproot/c2600-ipbasek9-mz.124-25d.bin from 10.0.55.254 (via FastEthernet0/0): !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Verifying checksum... OK (0x88F3)
1215780 bytes copied in 9.532 secs (135086 bytes/sec)

But then I get an error when the router loads:

loadprog: error - on read during ELF program load
requested 13649828 (0xd047a4) bytes, got 1197136 (0x124450)
boot: cannot load "flash:"

I am pretty sure I have enough RAM:

System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(7r) [cmong 7r], RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

C2600 platform with 65536 Kbytes of main memory

Does this look to be a case of corrupted flash?

Hello,

After having seen in the Cisco download area your DRAM size 64Mb is indeed ok for this IOS.

The size of this IOS is 13668524 bytes (only 121578 bytes has been copied).

From your output, we can see the size of copied bytes (121578 bytes) and the checksum (0x88F3) are not the same.

The router also points this => requested 13649828 (0xd047a4) bytes, got 1197136 (0x124450)

The IOS has not been correctly copied during the tftp transfer and thus the router cannot boot. There has been some problem with transfer or the original IOS file is not correct.

As previous IOS has been erased and as you cannot currently boot, I think unfortunately the only workaround would be now a xmodem transfer ...;try to do it with a small size IOS and after correctly booting, upgrade again with 124-25d (I would recommend you to do it directly from a connected PC).
