Hello,

I have one C3560 without space that needs an upgrade.

2 -rwx 1524 Apr 21 2018 11:47:14 +00:00 vlan.dat
3 -rwx 11773637 Apr 6 2015 17:34:38 +00:00 c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10.bin
4 -rwx 4205056 Mar 17 2021 05:23:36 +00:00 syslog_msg.txt
5 -rwx 13336 Feb 28 2018 05:47:05 +00:00 config.text
6 -rwx 3096 Jul 24 2018 13:25:23 +00:00 multiple-fs

15998976 bytes total (0 bytes free)

Please suggest/steps on how I can upgrade to the new version and back up plan if there is a failure.

Thank you

Is the file "syslog_msg.txt" still needed or not?

If not, delete it:  delete /f /r flash:syslog_msg.txt

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the reply.

even if we delete the Syslog file, it will free up only 4 MB, the IOS file should be at least 11 MB

what is the IOS you trying to upgrade? you only get SE12 or SE13? do you see any bugs or issues with exiting IOS?

Another method (bit cautious)  is to delete the OLD IOS and Upload the new IOS - make the sure device not reboot while doing this process.

change the boot variable and reload ? is this works?

1.  Delete "c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10.bin":  del /f /r flash:c3560-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10.bin

WARNING:  DO NOT REBOOT or power down the switch until the IOS has completed unpacking.

2.  Unpack the new IOS into the switch:  archive download-sw /image tftp://<TFTP_IP_ADDRESS>/IOS_FILENAME.tar

3.  Reboot the switch after the file has been unpacked.

Thanks for the reply, yes planning to delete old and upload new and reload. In the worst case, thinking of xmodem transfer if there is a failure and for restore

yes correct be prepare for it. ( for xmodem in case) - that is the only method i see due to space issue.
