Dear all,

Q1 Is there any differences in "behaviour and configurations" between typing  WCCP relatred commands without defining a service ID number and with defining that service ID no??

for example what is defferences between "IP wccp  webcache password 123" and "IP wccp 62  webcache password 123" ??? is it just a process ID and has no affect in behaviour??

Q2 Why cisco and other documentation alwayse uses service IDs 61 and 62 ??

Hi,

1) this Dynamic Service group (Service id) is a feature introduced in wccp v2 and is dictated to the router by the web cache server. during the registration process, the router is told what ports and protocols it should forward to teh cache server, based on the service id.

2) service id of 61 and 62 are "TCP promiscuous mode service" which includes all protocols that use TCP as a transport, including the CIFS protocol.

Hope it Helps,

Soroush.
