Is this license mismatch possible?
I already have a stack of LANBASE 3750x's and want to add a IPBASE 3750x to it.
All IOS versions are identical just the licenses are different.
Looking through the logs it appears that the stack ports are shut down soon after the message:
MAJOR_VERSION_MISMATCH (Local 1 - Received 6) with neighbor-0
MAJOR_VERSION_MISMATCH (Local 1 - Received 6) with neighbor-1
Any advice appreciated.!

Hi
Switches with different major software version nos are not compatible and wont be part of the switch stack. Better you try upgrade the IOS on the new switch and connect it onto the stack.

All IOS versions are identical, just the switch I want to add to the LANBASE stack has the IPBASE feature set/license installed.
It must be because of the feature set/license difference. But I need to confirm this.

Lan base and Ip based can not stack with eachother,
You can stack lan base with lanbase and ipbase with ipbase and ipservices but not mix lan with ipbase or services.
Lan based = L2
ipbase/ipservices= L3

search for the word mixed.
good luck

I came to think of one thing.
The 3750X Lan bae comes with a time limited ipbae license for testing purposes, you can start up that license.
That will make the switch able to connect to a ipbase stack. however what happens when you reaload the switch after the time limit has expired i just guesswork, but I think it will not be able to access the stack.
Good luck
