IPv4 Multicast

Hi All,

I am trying, without much success, to convince an Aironet 1140 to forward my IPv4 local scope (239.255/16) multicasts.  I can send identical UDP packets using IPv6 multicasts, and subnet directed broadcasts, but I cannot get IPv4 multicasts to work.  I have tried to connect to the admin interface and add filters for the multicast address I'm using, but that doesn't seem to have any effect.  Either the AP or the local drivers (both Linux and Windows0 are refusing to send or receive IPv4 multicasts (but I can send and receive them fine on the wired interfaces).

I have the following questions:

Is there some kind of built-in policy that disables IPv4 multicast on Cisco APs?

If so, is this policy consistent across Cisco products?

Where is the policy defined?

How can I influence this policy (as an AP administrator, host machine administrator or user program on a host)?

Thanks in advance for your help ...

Regards,

-- Craig

Craig,

Have you read the below?

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/Enterprise/Mobility/emob30dg/MCast.html

Also try turning off igmp snooping.
