IPV6 MPLS

Hi everyone,

I'm currently setting up a small MPLS network to have a play around with, and i'd like to use IPv6. In IPv4 everything works fine, but when using IPv6 LDP doesn't seem to bind labels to IPv6 addreses?

Are there some limitations in the Cisco implementation?

Hello Adam,

As far as I know, Cisco does not yet support the IPv6 mappings in LDP. The RFC 5036 describing the current LDP allegedly has a number of deficiences with regards to IPv6 support, and there is an ongoing development going in an Internet Draft to improve those deficiences, see

Perhaps somebody from Cisco could clarify if the IPv6 support in LDP is somewhere in the IOS development roadmap.
