IPX over VLAN

Client running IPX/SPX attached to vlan 800. Windows Server running gateway services for netware attached to vlan 800.

client unable to connect to server via IPX.

Presume IPX routing not required as devices are on same vlan (although client is connected to another switch in another part of bldg).

Thanks for any info as to troubleshooting.

portfast!

That's the first suggestion I would have. Make sure that the link is becoming active as soon as possible on the ports where both the server and the client are connected. Use the port host macro if necessary (it disables trunking and DTP at the same time it enables portfast). IPX client are immediately trying to connect to their server and need immediate availability of the L2 network. If this does not help (and you can of course confirm connectivity using some other device for instance), it's not likely to be a network issue.

Regards,

Francois
