IS GLBP SUPPORTED ON NEXUS 5500

I am wondering if GLBP is supported on nexus 5500

I have 4 5548s I want to run glbp on but the feature is not listed to activate.

version 5.2(1)N1(1a)

I have features hsrp and vrrp but no glbp.  According to what I read from Cisco you don't need special licensing for it.  So why can I not activate the feature?

5Ks do not support GLBP, only 7Ks do

the documentation I am looking at from cisco.com shows 5500 having hsrp/glbp/vrrp support

GLBP is not currently supported on nexus 5000 platform

But currently there is a plan to support it in one of the future releases next year.

If so, which release would be required to run GLBP.

GLBP is still not supported on Nexus 5500.

Nexus 5000 currently supports two First-Hop Redundancy Protocols - HSRP and VRRP. GLBP
support is not implemented on 5000 yet and any current releases.

So this original post was written two years ago.  I'm wondering if GLBP has yet been implemented on the Nexus 5K's as I two have a need for it.  If not, any target date for it?  THis is becoming a problem.

GLBP is not supported on N5K (but supported on N7K).
Currently, GLBP is not in N5K roadmap.
If you are using vPC, then both active and standby HSRP routers are forwarding packets so traffic is load balanced by L2 vPC port-channel hash.

vPC and First Hop Redundancy Protocol

When you use a Cisco Nexus 5548 switch or Cisco Nexus 5596UP switch as a default gateway for hosts, you can deploy the First Hop Redundancy Protocol (FHRP) to provide default gateway redundancy. Beginning with Cisco NX-OS Release 5.0(3)N1(1b), an active FHRP peer and a standby peer can perform Layer 3 forwarding when you enable vPC. This optimization improves bandwidth, avoids sending the Layer 3 traffic over the vPC peer link, and requires no configuration or protocol change. Only the FHRP active peer answers ARP requests. Because both active and standby FHRP peers can forward Layer 3 traffic, you do not need to configure an aggressive timer for FHRP to provide faster failover and convergence time if an active FHRP peer fails.

Figure 3-1<http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5000/sw/operations/n5k_L3_w_vpc_5500platform.html#wp998349> shows that the Layer 3 traffic that originated from the host and is destined to a host several hops away can be routed by both the Host Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) active and the HSRP standby switch.
