issue with 2960X switch

I have a need to send data from port-X using the TX side of a fiber SFP on switch-A to port-X on switch-B using the receive side of a fiber SFP.  I was able to do this on the 2960G by connecting the TX side of a SFP in port Y on switch-A to the RX side of the SFP in port-X on switch-A and disabling CDP for ports X and Y in both switches.  It works.

I attempted this same configuration with the new 2960X switches and it doesn't work.  Port-X will not come online on switch-A or switch-B.  Any ideas on how to make this work will be very helpful.

I think it depends on the SFP transceiver module. Check if it's DOM capable. I hope this helps.
