Issues with pinging high numbered vlan on cisco catalyst 3750 PoE-48

I have a Cisco switch that has a couple VLAN's, VLAN 10, 50 and VLAN 1000. The previous two can be pinged but I am unable to ping VLAN 1000. I am not sure if it is the numbering scheme that is the issue or if I have to go digging some more to solve the problem.

Hello friend,

i think vlan 1000 should not be a problem. Could you please share the specific vlan configuration and switch port config for vlan1000 on which you have connected your testing device

I just assume that your config also looks like this

vlan 1000

name xxxx

int vlan 1000

ip add

And switch config for the testing device

int gi0/2

switchport mode access

switchport access vlan 1000

if this is the config I think it should work without any issues

thanks

we basically are pinging from the computers hooked up to the switch by CAT5 which are accessing the backend of a server.

vlan 10 ip address 192.168.1.200

vlan 50 ip address 192.168.5.200

vlan 1000 ip address 192.168.0.200

all with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0

Hi,

are you able to ping gateway vlan 1000 gateway ip from vlan 1000 ?

please provide the below outputs

show ver

show run int gig0/1 (access ports from vlan 1000)

and check are you learning the MAC address on the vlan 1000

Do you have only one vlan configured on the switch ? On which vlan the backend server is connected ?

All the vlan's are connect through one LAN on the server using a Hyper V vswitch. I can ping the gateway ip 192.168.0.1 no problem.

VLAN 1000

show ver

Cisco IOS Software, C3750 software (C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2 (55) SE3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

The access ports are 5, 8, 7, 9,12 - 24 for vlan 1000
