Hi I am looking to purchase a couple of switches to get the idea of using the CLI and trunking etc.
What would be a good one to buy?
I was looking at the CISCO CATALYST WS-C2950G-48-E
Something that I can also configure VLANs on, and that has a GUI option.
What is a good one to use?
Thanks

Hi,
Not sure about GUI, but if you want to use cli, the 2950s and 2960s are good switches for practice. You can also create vlans as well. ebay is probably good place to find them for a reasonable price.

Hardware can be expensive when you consider the full cost of owning and maintaining the equipment.
As an alternative there are virtual solutions like VIRL or the CCIE Lab Builder
