I have two networks that I need to route to the internet. Here is my setup:

Router: ADTRAN 3205

WAN IP: 207.42.xx.xxx

SM: 255.255.255.248

LAN IP: 208.6..xx.xxx

SM: 255.255.255.248

Cisco 3560 Switch:

IP: 208.6.xx.xxy

SM: 255.255.255.248

Two VLAN?s. VLAN1 default and VLAN2. Port 20 is on VLAN2. Port 20 settings are:

IP: 10.10.x.x

SM: 255.255.0.0

IP routing is enabled. VLAN routing is also enabled. The 208.6.xx.xxx network has full internet access, but my 10.10.x.x network can not ping the gateway (208.6..xx.xxx)

Here is the PC?s ipconfig:

IP: 10.10.x.y

SM: 255.255.0.0

GW: 208.6.xx.xxx

Can I get the 10.10.x.x network routed to the internet using the Cisco 3560 switch? Do I need to purchase another router to route the 10.10.x.x network?

Donald,

In addition to routing, you need to introduce NAT into the picture. You are mixing public IP addresses with Private IPs.

The 208.6.xx.xxx network won't know how to get to the 10.10.x.y network.

Sad thing is that you can't implement NAT on a 3560 switch so you need a router in between.

In addition, the PC must have the correct Default Gateway. The gateway must be the next hop router that will be forwarding the frame to the Internet. From your config on the PC the gateway is on the wrong subnet. Point it to the routers ip address and that will help you as well.....
