Latency - Potentially Caused by Switch Stacking

Hi,

I have the following scenario (refer to the attached 'setup')

  • Branch
    • Two Cisco 3750V2 stacked (WS-C3750V2-24PS-S)
    • 3750V2 stack uplinks to Two Branch WAN Routers
      • Branch Router 1 connected to 3750V2 stack member 1
      • Branch Router 2 connected to 3750V2 stack member 2
      • Eigrp between the switch stack and the two routers
    • Branch Server 1 connected to 3750V2 stack member 1
    • Branch Server 2 connected to 3750V2 stack member 2

I am at HQ and when a undertake a Traceroute to each sever:

  • There is normal latency from a Workstation in HQ LAN to Branch Server 1 (up to 40ms)
  • There is significant latency from a Workstation in HQ LAN to Branch Server 2 (up to 1,200ms)

Could the Latency be caused by issues with the Switch Stack setup?

Hi

In the traceroute to the branch 2 server where does the value increase in the latency is it right between switch ip and server hop

if your local on the network not coming from HQ do you see the same result

no issues on the server switch port , crcs , inputs or collisions etc

I wouldn't have thought it was the stack itself causing it , usually if something's up with the stack you wont just see 1 device effected

Hi,

In the traceroute, the latency increases at the Router Virtual IP address

But server 1 would also pass over this vip address too yes in path , the 2 routers are in redundancy form like hsrp is that correct , both I presume take the exact same path  until they hit the server ip or is it different
