Hi All

We need to send mac notification traps to our server, are all the below commands needed to enable this?

snmp-server community public
snmp-server enable traps MAC-Notification
snmp-server host 1.1.1.1 version 2c public mac-notification
!
!
mac address-table notification change
!
!

DO WE NEED ON EACH PORT?

snmp trap mac-notification change added
snmp trap mac-notification change removed

Do we need all these commands for it to work?

Cheers

mac address-table notification change < Global command

snmp trap mac-notification change added  <Interface specific
snmp trap mac-notification change removed <Interface specific

Your configuration looks good, Just make sure the switch has a managment address to be able to send the traps

 FYI : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12-2/31sg/command/reference/cmdref/snmp_vtp.html#wp1209203

Pay attention to the Usage Guidelines paragraph too.

If you need more information regarding the MAC moving :

SNMP trap mac-notification {added | removed}

enable the MAC address notification trap.

- Enable the MAC notification trap whenever a MAC address is added on this interface.

- Enable the MAC notification trap whenever a MAC address is removed from this interface.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi

do we need to also add the command for Mac added and removed on the interfaces ?

or would the MAC address change global configuration command be enough ?

personally, if I capturing more information, more information available for us, life easy when required to diagnosis the issue around.

so I will enable both and check that they meet the requirement.

 - You need it on the interfaces too, (I mean not the global but the interface specific command(s)
